Dr Alex Gordon MBBS, FRACP
sleep & respiratory physician, Co-Director
Dr Gordon is a Sleep and Respiratory physician with a passion for trying to achieve the best outcomes for his patients. Originally from South Australia, he graduated from Adelaide University in 2012, interned at the Lyell McEwin before driving to NSW to train in Adult internal medicine in the Hunter. He specialised in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine via advanced training at John Hunter and Gosford Hospitals, acquiring his Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians at the start of 2021.
Since that time he has worked predominantly in private rooms in Newcastle, with an ongoing affiliation with the Gosford Hospital, where he has worked as a staff specialist with the department of Respiratory and Sleep medicine. He has chosen to pursue sleep medicine as his primary focus, though still sees patients with concurrent sleep and respiratory disorders.
He lives on Lake Macquarie with his family and is the proud father of two young boys. You may catch him running around the Lake, or getting out on the water with friends and family or camping and hiking around the greater Hunter area. He’s also a lifelong lover of music and still finds time to play mandolin professionally locally.

Dr Claire Nussey (PhD)

Claire is an experienced clinical psychologist who has been interested in helping people improve their sleep since the outset of her psychology career in around 2009. She is excited to be part of the team at New Sleep where this is a specific focus.
At New Sleep, Claire provides comprehensive assessment to understand the factors contributing to your poor sleep (such as anxiety, depression, nightmares, pain etc), followed by a structured, evidence-based intervention called Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia, or CBTi, tailored to your situation.
Claire grew up in London. She obtained a First Class Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Physiology at the University of Oxford, and a Doctorate of Clinical Psychology at University College London. Claire spent around 10 years working in the National Health Service (NHS) across neuropsychology and older adult mental health services. After moving to Australia in 2016, she spent several years working clinically with adults in a primary care service, whilst also holding managerial roles in the organisation, before later moving into private practice.
Outside of work, Claire enjoys spending time with friends and family, in both Australia and the UK, and her two Devon Rex cats. She loves swimming, op shopping, and going for walks (or tea and cake).
